Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Student shall reach the skill to describe central models of psychological gender and diversity research objectively, recognize and address correctly psychological mechanisms in this field and become aware of societal and individual-psychological problems according to central diversity categories (gender, sexual orientation, parental generativity, social class/education, age, ethnicity, disability and body [ beauty/weigh/height). They shall gain deeper knowledge of these categories, especially according to their social constructedness, their intersectional relations and consequently understand resulting inclusion and exclusion mechanisms. Students shall reflect over their own position along these diversity categories and resulting behavioral mechanisms. This knowledge is directly applicable to many applied fields in psychology (e.g. clinical, work- and organizations psychology).
This lecture is held in presence and uses a flipped classroom approach for selected topics. This means, that for special topics teaching-videos and corresponding slides will be provided a priori to the lecture (app. one week). Optimally, these videos should be watched before the lecture and will be discussed and deepened during the lecture. Topics presented during the lecture plus teaching videos are relevant for the exam. Active participation in discussions in the online discussion forums and summarizing of literature result in bonus points up to a maximum of 10% of the total points
