Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Student shall reach the skill to describe central models of psychological gender and diversity research objectively, recognize and address correctly psychological mechanisms in this field and become aware of societal and individual-psychological problems according to central diversity categories (gender, sexual orientation, parental generativity, social class/education, age, ethnicity, disability and body [ beauty/weigh/height). They shall gain deeper knowledge of these categories, especially according to their social constructedness, their intersectional relations and consequently understand resulting inclusion and exclusion mechanisms. Students shall reflect over their own position along these diversity categories and resulting behavioral mechanisms. This knowledge is directly applicable to many applied fields in psychology (e.g. clinical, work- and organizations psychology).
The course will be held as a classroom lecture and also streamed directly - the course streams will then also be available on Moodle afterwards.
In addition to the lecture material, 10 compulsory texts (English-language scientific journal articles) have to be read.
