Aims, contents and method of the course

Das Ziel dieser Lehrveranstaltung ist es, durch das aktive Auseinandersetzen mit wissenschaftlicher Literatur einen Einblick in den Themenbereich der sozialen Neurowissenschaften zu geben. Es soll ein Verständnis für die biologischen Prozesse geschaffen werden, die dem menschlichen Erleben und Verhalten zugrunde liegen.

Inhalt: Der Kurs orientiert sich an dem Buch "The Student's Guide to Social Neuroscience" von Jamie Ward, welches folgende Kapitel beinhaltet:
1. Introduction to Social Neuroscience
2. The Methods of Social Neuroscience
3. Evolutionary Origins of Social Intelligence and Culture
4. Emotion and Motivation
5. Reading Faces and Bodies
6. Understanding Others
7. Interacting with Others
8. Relationships
9. Groups and Identity
10. Morality and Anti-Social Behaviour
11. Developmental Social Neuroscience

Methode:
In jeder Präsenzeinheit wird eine Gruppe von mehreren Studenten kurze Vorträge über wissenschaftliche Artikel halten, die thematisch zu einem der Kapitel des Buches passen. Wesentlich ist auch die anschließende Diskussion, sowie die Diskussion im Onlinebereich der LV. Diese soll zur gedanklichen Auseinandersetzung mit den präsentierten Themen anregen.

Fallweise wird es schriftliche Tests geben.

Assessment and permitted materials

- Tests (50%)
- Vortrag (25%)
- Aktive Mitarbeit (online und in den Präsenzeinheiten; 25%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Durchgehende Anwesenheit in den Präsenzeinheiten ist unbedingt erforderlich (maximal zwei Fehltermine als Grundlage für eine positive Beurteilung).
Die Gesamtsumme der Teilleistungen ergibt die Seminarnote. Ab 60% ist das Seminar positiv absolviert, die übrigen Noten ergeben sich durch 10%-Stufen.
