Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture gives an overview of various methodological approaches to psychological research with a special focus on experimental and quasi-experimental designs. Furthermore, it deals with validity, sampling (simple random, stratified, cluster), sample size planning, missing values, mixed methods and other chapters like the PISA methodology. The practical implementation using software is particularly supported.

Assessment and permitted materials

Final exam. A pocket calculator is required.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Being familiar with the most important aspects of research planning and implementation and the consequences for interpretation. First acquaintance with important procedures of practical work, and software.

Examination topics

Slide packages according to a published list of topics.
