Due to COVID-19 and the necessary protection against infection, the lecture is only partially hybrid (classroom teaching and online attendance). About 60% of teaching will be online. The attendance dates, to which you can also join online, are listed in the schedule.
Please note: Due to Corona, the lecture hall only has 82 seats. No more people can take part in classroom teaching than this number. The places for these events are allocated on a "first come, first served" basis. Please register for participation via Moodle. Once the maximum number has been reached, no further registration will be possible. Non-registered persons cannot participate in the lecture.

Aims, contents and method of the course

It is the goal of this lecture to introduce the field of clinical psychology and to create a knowledge base for the understanding of clinical psychology. At the end of the lecture, students will have a profound insight into the most important topics, research areas and tasks of clinical psychology.
Since the field is very large, only the central topics of clinical psychology are taught:
- Term, contents and subject areas of Clinical Psychology
- Short problem history
- Paradigms of clinical psychology
- Bio-psycho-social model
- Clinical-psychological research and research areas
- Mental disorders - definition, concept, overview
- Classification and diagnostics
- Epidemiology
- Etiology
- Clinical-psychological interventions:
Crisis intervention
Psychological therapy and psychotherapy
Rehabilitation
- In-depth presentation of most important psychological disorders
- Practice of clinical psychology in Austria, Germany and Europe
Legal and governmental regulations
Fields of activity of clinical psychology
Training in clinical psychology

Assessment and permitted materials

Written MC-examinations, executed online (online MC-exams; for details see Moodle), as long as COVID-19 is in danger.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Overview and basic understanding of the knowledge base of clinical psychology.
The evaluation key for MC examinations applies for the following grades:
< 60%: nicht genügend (5) (not sufficient)
61 - 70%: genügend (4) (sufficient)
71 - 80%: befriedigend (3) satisfactory
81 - 90%: gut (2) good
91 - 100%: sehr gut (1) very good

Examination topics

Lecture material, operationalized by the topics treated. Due to the online format of the examination, no pure slide contents will be examined. Instead of those so-called "transfer and application knowledge" will be exmined (see https://ssc-psychologie.univie.ac.at/studium/digitale-pruefungen/).
The examination comprises a total of 20 questions, 14 of which are so-called transfer questions and six application questions based on text tasks that are usually case vignettes.
