Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Students acquire (1) in-depth knowledge in selected fields of cognitive psychology (methodology, perception, attention, memory, knowledge representation, language, social cognition, creativity, fields of application, etc.), (2) understand and critically assess empirical research and (3) are familiar with the research process from the acquisition of third-party funding to publication in scientific journals.To this end, textbook chapters and empirical research are read and critically discussed, groups of students present topics and empirical research from selected fields of cognitive psychology, and at the end, each student writes a short seminar paper (approx. 5 pages). Also, there are classes about searching for, reading, and critically assessing scientific literature, about scientific writing, and about the research process.
Assessment and permitted materials
Student presentations, short multiple-choice exams, which are taken at home via Moodle before the thematic classes, seminar work, participation.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The grading is based on the presentation (30%), the multiple-choice exams (30%), the seminar paper (30%) and the participation (10%). For a positive assessment, a minimum of 50% must be achieved, and a maximum of two classes may be missed.Registered students must be present in the first class. Otherwise, the place will be given to a student on the waiting list.

Textbook chapters and empirical research papers in English, which will be announced during the course.
