Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course will cover major themes in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience from early face perception to social attention, action understanding, and imitation learning. Lecture sessions will alternate with exercise sessions on the given topic. Exercise sessions will feature student presentations (flash talks), discussions and small group activities.

Participants will gain in-depth understanding of key topics of research in the field, an overview on novel theoretical and methodological approaches and practice presentation and scientific discussion skills.

Assessment and permitted materials

Participants are required to document their learning progress in the form of a digital diary. The format will be a successively created PowerPoint presentation with voice recording, one slide for each session. The slides can include text, pictures and other forms of visualization.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

In addition to the diary, one 10-minute flash talk on a research article has to be prepared and presented in pairs. The grade will comprise the individual diary (parts I & II) 60%, the flash talk 20% and engagement in discussions and activities in the sessions 20%.

All individual parts of the performance (diary part I, diary part II, flash talk, contributions in the sessions) must be graded at least sufficient (grade 4) for the course to be passed.

Minimum presence during 80% of the course sessions is required.
