Aims, contents and method of the course
Men's studies and the scientific theories about masculinity are a relatively new field of reasearch. It is an interdisciplinary approach with a main focus on men, masculinity and gender.
Assessment and permitted materials
Presentation, engagement, assignment
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
During the seminar theories and research areas of men's studies will be critically discussed. Key interest will be the representation of men in mass media, especially concerning film, TV, advertisements and print media by exploring and discussing these male media myths.
Examination topics
Essential for this seminar are multi-media power-point presentation created by the students. According to a number of topics it will up up to the students to find additional literature and media materialand complete their presentation by own empirical investigations or surveys.
