Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this seminar is for students to complete their Bachelor Thesis in a designated topic in Environmental Psychology. This is the second seminar of a 2-semester course program. The seminars are structured according to the following steps, of which 1-4 took place last semester (summer semester 2022), and 5-6 will take place in this seminar “Bachelor thesis” (winter semester 2022/23).
The seminar will be held in person if the pandemic and governmental regulations allow.
(1) Become familiar with a topic (completed in SoSe 2022)
(2) Find a research question and formulate hypotheses (completed in SoSe 2022)
(3) Identify and assess the methods available (completed in SoSe 2022)
(4) Design your study and plan your analysis (completed in SoSe 2022)
(5) Implement and conduct your study
(6) Analyze your data and write up your thesis
You will continue working together in the groups formed in the Scientific Readings Seminar SoSe 2022. You will conduct the study you proposed, planning the analysis, collecting the data, and writing up your thesis. You will then be assessed based on your individual thesis about the study, which you submit in the format of a Stage 2 Registered Report (https://www.cos.io/our-services/registered-reports).

Assessment and permitted materials

Elements of assessment:
1) First draft of thesis (ungraded, but submission required)
2) Final thesis (80%)
3) Results presentation (20%)

1 (very good) 100-90 Percent
2 (good) 89-80 Percent
3 (satisfactory) 79-70 Percent
4 (sufficient) 69-60 Percent
5 (insufficient) 59-0 Percent

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For successful completion of the seminar you are required to:
- attend a minimum of 80% of the seminars,
- submit a first draft of your final thesis,
- receive an overall grade of pass (genügend) on the other assignments
