Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this seminar is for students to complete their Bachelor Thesis in a designated topic in Environmental Psychology. This is the second seminar of a 2-semester course program. The seminars are structured according to the following steps, of which 1-4 took place last semester (summer semester 2023), and 5-6 will take place in this seminar “Bachelor thesis” (winter semester 2023/24).

(1) Become familiar with a topic (completed in SoSe 2023)
(2) Find a research question and formulate hypotheses (completed in SoSe 2023)
(3) Identify and assess the methods available (completed in SoSe 2023)
(4) Design your study and plan your analysis (completed in SoSe 2023)
(5) Implement and conduct your study
(6) Analyze your data and write up your thesis
You will continue working together in the groups formed in the Scientific Readings Seminar SoSe 2023. You will conduct the study you proposed, planning the analysis, collecting the data, and writing up your thesis. You will then be assessed based on your individual thesis about the study.

Assessment and permitted materials

Elements of assessment:
1) First draft of thesis (ungraded, but submission required)
2) Final thesis (80%)
3) Results presentation (20%)

1 (very good) 100-90 Percent
2 (good) 89-80 Percent
3 (satisfactory) 79-70 Percent
4 (sufficient) 69-60 Percent
5 (insufficient) 59-0 Percent

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For successful completion of the seminar you are required to:
- attend a minimum of 80% of the seminars,
- submit a first draft of your final thesis,
- receive an overall grade of pass (genügend) on the other assignments
