Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This seminar is a combination of attending a weekly Journal Club and a series of Colloquia. The Journal Club involves reading and joint commenting on relevant papers or book chapters in Cognitive Sciences. The Colloquium provides the opportunity to engage with current research in the domain of General, Cognitive and Biological Psychology, as presented by renowned researchers. Aim is to foster critical thinking when reading or listening to contributions to Social, Cognitive, and Affective (Neuro) Sciences.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment is based on participation and contributions to the discussion in class. Each unit a specific paper will be discussed. One group of students will present the paper in detail and should raise important questions pertaining to the topic. These will then be discussed in the remainder of the unit.
Attendance to sessions of the journal club AND the colloquium.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grading is based on the following:

a) Attendance at the Journal Club AND the colloquium --> 20%

b) Active participation --> 35%

c) Presentation of the paper and discussion --> 45%

Examination topics

Presenting and commenting on mandatory readings, and attending a series of colloquia.
