Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The current course aims to provide master students with guidance for developing and improving their research skills in the field of Social and Organizational Psychology. More specifically, students will learn how to construct a theoretical background, define a research gap, raise key research questions and hypotheses, and design a study accordingly.

Ultimately, the course is designed to help students find their own research topic, build a strong research framework that can potentially develop into their master’s thesis in Social and Organizational Psychology (and other related areas such as Social Cognition).

At the introduction class (first class) students will be asked to choose one research topic from a range of topics provided in the course. A variety of research topics ranging from Social Cognition to Social, Work, and Organizational Psychology will be provided such as:

Dr Jana Kühnel
- Erholung während der Ferien (Recovery during vacations)
- Mobiles Arbeiten (Mobile work / Part-time teleworking)

Dr Hyunji Kim
- Self-representation and attitudes
- Psychological distance and decision making
- Personal relative deprivation and consumer behavior

Depending on the topics students choose, the class will be split into two groups of ten students each.
Group 1: Work and Organizational Psychology group (Dr Jana Kühnel)
Group 2: Social Cognition and Social Psychology group (Dr Hyunji Kim)

The course will be provided in German for Group 1 and English for Group 2.
