Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Contents: Do older people approach in social relationships similar things as younger people do? In this seminar, we will investigate whether older - compared to younger - adults prefer different social interaction partners, and on which factors these potential differences depend. For example, do older people have different needs than younger adults? Do they pursue different goals in their social relationships? Within this larger framework, students can develop own specific questions and hypotheses and test them on jointly collected data.
Goals: The main objective of the course is to acquire the skills and abilities necessary for the independent composition of a scientific paper.
-Students are able to read relevant literature in English.
-The students are able to communicate their knowledge in relevant areas in written and oral form with experts as well as laymen.
-The students are able to critically question research results and discuss them in an integrative manner.
Methods: Practical work within the framework of a research project; planning, implementation and evaluation of a study in small groups under supervision; student presentations; interactive short presentations by the course leader; plenary discussions; poster congress at the end of TEWA 2.
