Aims, contents and method of the course

Class schedule:

20/October: (Marcos Nadal) Practical experimental design

27/October, 3/November, 10/November: (Gernot Gerger) Experimental aesthetics

17/November, 24/November, 1/December: (Christoph Eisenegger) Psychopharmacology

15/December, 12/January, 19/January: (Claus Lamm) Social Neuroscience

Assessment and permitted materials

At the end of the semester each student will have to hand in a written proposal for an experiment. The course?s evaluation will be based on this proposal.

Length: maximum 3 pages

? Structure: Introduction, Aims, Hypotheses, Materials and Methods, Expected results.

? Topic: chosen by each student or based on one of the course?s topics

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The main aim of this course is to provide the basic conceptual foundations that support the methods and techniques used in research in cognitive psychology and neuroscience. These issues will be explored within the fields of Empirical Aesthetics, Psychopharmacology and Social Neuroscience.
