Current developments and challenges relating to these topics will also be discussed and basic knowledge of e-accessibility as well as knowledge of support services and contact points will be acquired. In addition, the course aims to broaden students' specialist knowledge and practical experience in the practical field of inclusive pedagogy at universities and in adult education.
The aim of the course is to familiarise students with some forms of individual support and self-determination and to deal with them at an academic level. In practical and theoretical exercises, students acquire skills that should enable them to critically reflect on, recognise and take individual support steps. A further aim of the course is therefore to recognise their own support skills, strengths and (im)possibilities over the course of the semester. On the one hand, these are taken into account by the course instructor when individually matching supporters and people to be supported and, on the other hand, also represent important self-awareness for later professional practice. The course leader has a diverse professional background and has set herself the goal of combining theory and practice and incorporating different disciplinary approaches into the course. It is the students' task to approach the course topics from the perspectives of other disciplines and to enrich them with their psychological knowledge.
In the course, appropriate literature and links to relevant contributions will be provided via Moodle, which will form the basis for the discussion rounds and small homework assignments as well as offer suggestions and assistance for the support work.Important organisational note (!!):
As part of the application seminar, 38 practical hours are to be completed in the Individual Study Support Unit (ISU) of the University of Vienna. Participants should complete 4-8 hours in the workshops of the qualification programme for student multipliers (QuaM).The dates for the respective workshops can be found on the website of the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL): https://ctl.univie.ac.at/angebote-fuer-studierende/qualifizierung-fuer-studentische-multiplikatorinnen/quam-qualifizierung-fuer-studentische-multiplikatorinnen/#c800239Allocation of supporters and students to be supported:
The head of the course is a project manager for Individual Study Support (ISU) in the University of Vienna's Accessibility Team. Thanks to this role, she is familiar with the needs of students with disabilities who apply for Individual Study Support (ISU for short). However, course participants are asked to complete a personal questionnaire once they have registered. This serves the purpose of the best possible matching with the students to be supported and is already assessed as a partial performance (homework).
