Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims and content of the seminar:
• Gain an in-depth understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in relation to the clinicial presentation, aetiology, prevalence and diagnosis.
• Learn about biopsychosocial and neuro-cognitive models and theories in ASD that are hypothesised to impact on ASD core symptoms (e.g. Theory of Mind, executive function, biological motion, social motivation, sensory processing)
• Critically discuss these models in relation to current research

Methods of the seminar:
• A combination of lectures, group work, journal reviews and a written essay
• Active participation during the seminar as well as individual work is required.
• E-learning support via Moodle will be provided.

Assessment and permitted materials

• Presence is required
• Read core papers prior to each seminar
• Active participation during seminar
• Short presentation
• Written examination (essay)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

• 20% Presence & active preparation (i.e. reading)
• 40% Active participation & individual presentation
• 40% Essay
