Aims, contents and method of the course

Evidence based assessment (EBA) of mental disorders in children and adolescents.
- what is EBA?
- rating scales
- clinical interviews
- EBA of specific mental disorders
- competences associated with mental disorders (social skills, executive functions)

Assessment and permitted materials

- attendance and participation
- weekly questions about the paper to be read that have to be answered online in between classes
- group-presentation
- Short written commentary on a paper of personal choice

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

- to understand what EBA is and why it is important
- getting aquainted with different EBA measures
- critically reflecting the use and benefit (incremental validity) of clinical assessment tools
- critically reflection of the process of assessment and of the benefits and limitations of categorical and dimensional assessment
