Information
Aims, contents, and method of the course
Students will learn about the topics and methods of two research groups. First, the Empirical Visual Aesthetics lab, with Empirical Aesthetics and Neuroaesthetics, will be introduced. If possible, a practical introduction of state-of-the-art measures, e.g., portable eye-movement measures, field studies, and brain stimulation, will be given. Second, the Environmental Psychology Research group will give an overview of topics related to Environment and Climate Change. There will be opportunities to take part in relevant research studies, too.

1. Homework Assignment
Based on the study by Knoll et al. (2014): Briefly describe and compare two aesthetic
experiences from your everyday life, relate these experiences to the study by Knoll et al. (2014);
then attempt to briefly assess them qualitatively (“What kind of experiences are these,
psychologically speaking?”) and quantitatively (frequency of occurrence). Finally, please present
a psychological question (including a research hypothesis) that you find interesting and worth
investigating in relation to these everyday experiences. Include other areas of psychology if
possible. Important: Briefly explain why this question is interesting (what research interest you
associate with it). Maximum of 1,000 words, plus references, 12p, singl

Second homework: Assignment for Environmental Psychology

Maximum 1000 words, plus References, 12p, single space. A template for the proposal will be provided.
