Aims, contents and method of the course

GOALS & CONTENT:
- Intensive theoretical, but also initial intellectual, practical examination of the term culture and its meaning in clinical psychology
- Getting to know different psychological disciplines such as cultural psychology, cross-cultural psychology, indigenous psychology, community psychology, etc.
- Getting to know and engaging with research and practice in other cultures;
- the opportunity for a small group to contact psychologists in other cultures and conduct interviews with them (knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage for a small group).
- the opportunity and also the requirement to take active part in the course by designing predetermined course topics in a small group
- Developing your own ideas for research and practice in connection with culturally sensitive/transcultural psychology
- Promoting a holistic understanding of the connections through different perspectives ( related studies such as social work, sociology and psychiatry)
- Promoting teamwork and independent development of content
- Through intensive discussion, knowledge acquisition should be transferred to other students within the course
- Students will find suitable literature for this sub-area beyond the course
- a transfer into practical work should be achieved on the basis of an initial solid knowledge base

METHODS:
The content is presented in face-to-face teaching, as well as through presentations and tasks that are prepared and presented by the participants in small groups.
The topics presented in the sessions should be deepened and discussed together. In addition to the face-to-face sessions, there will also be asynchronous tasks (homework & online material).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Course with continuous examination:
Attendance, active participation, presentations, processing of tasks in the units and in between, group final work

In individual work:
- Tasks to be worked out between the attendance appointments
- Study of literature
- Personal reflections
- Peer feedback
