Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims:
1. To explore the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and society from a psychological perspective.
2. To critically assess how AI impacts human behaviour, cognition, and social interactions.
3. To examine ethical considerations and societal challenges related to the integration of AI technologies.

Contents:
1. Overview of AI technologies and their societal impact.
2. Human-AI interaction: Trust and autonomy.
3. AI’s transformation of job markets.
4. Psychological effects of automation and job displacement.
5. AI’s role in social inequality.

Methods:
1.Group Discussions/Debate: To foster critical thinking and debate on the societal implications of AI.
2. Presentations: Students will present on specific AI applications and their societal impacts.
3. Research Projects: Students will conduct research on a chosen topic related to AI and its societal implications, resulting in a final paper or presentation.

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous Assessment: Participation in class discussions, assignments, and group work.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Active Participation: Regular attendance and meaningful contributions to discussions.

Examination topics

No examinations.
