Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course introduces students to the basics of planning and conducting social science work, such as choice of topic, research question formulation, literature research, selection of research methods, citation, and fundamentals of scientific writing in English. The course aims to guide students in the design of a research plan/concept. Throughout the semester, students will do short assignments that will prepare them for such a task, including citing scientific literature, discussing and analyzing texts in groups, among others. Texts will address topics of global environmental politics.

Assessment and permitted materials

The method of the course consists of
• lectures,
• reading literature,
• discussing texts in class,
• doing exercises in class,
• delivering assignments,
• delivering a research plan/concept.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

• Attendance (you can only skip 2 sessions)
• Hand in all assignments on time!
• Assignments (40%) & Research plan/concept (40%)
• Active participation in class and group discussions (20%)
• Readings will be provided in Moodle
