Aims, contents and method of the course

Der Kurs vermittelt Grundkenntnisse quantitativer Methoden der Sozialforschung, die zur Konzeption und Bearbeitung einer empirischen Fragestellung notwendig sind. Der gleichzeitige Besuch der zugehörigen Vorlesung "Quantitative Methoden der empirischen Sozialforschung" bei Prof. Wagner wird vorausgesetzt. Im Rahmen der Übung werden die Inhalte der Vorlesung wiederholt und unter Verwendung des aktuellen AUTNES Datensatzes praktisch angewandt. Dabei kommt die Statistiksoftware STATA 14 zum Einsatz.

- Aktive Teilnahme in den Übungen (10%)
- Termingerechte Abgabe von Hausübungen (Gruppenarbeit á 2 Personen möglich) (25%)
- Midterm Test (25%)
- Schriftliche Abschlussarbeit (keine Gruppenarbeit) (40%).

Achtung: Zur Leistungskontrolle wird die Plagiatssoftware 'Turnitin' eingesetzt. Letzter Abgabetermin: 28.02.2019!

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

In jedem oben genannten Teilbereich muss für sich genommen zumindest eine Teilleistung erbracht werden, nur dann ist der positive Abschluss der Lehrveranstaltung möglich. Die Teilbereiche gehen zu den genannten Prozentsätzen in die Gesamtnote ein. 50 Prozent der gesamten Punkte sind für einen positiven Abschluss der Übung mindestens zu erreichen.

Das unentschuldigte Fehlen in maximal zwei Lehrveranstaltungseinheiten wird toleriert. Ab drei verpassten Terminen gilt die Lehrveranstaltung als abgebrochen. In der ersten Einheit ist die Anwesenheit unbedingt erforderlich, da ansonsten der Platz in der Übung nicht gewährleistet werden kann.

Examination topics

Prüfungsstoff für den Midterm-Test sind alle Inhalte der Übung (aufbauend auf der begleitenden Vorlesung), die bis dahin besprochen worden sind. Die erforderlichen quantitativen Analysen mit STATA werden ebenfalls zur Gänze in den Präsenzeinheiten besprochen.
