Aims, contents and method of the course

Learn the "tools" for quantitative research:
a) Principles and methods of quantitative empirical social research.
- What is it empirical research based on quantitative methods?
b) Overview of basic statistics and their application.
- How can I describe the collected material or "data" and test my hypotheses?
c) Learning the statistical software Stata.
- How can I process my data efficiently?

Assessment and permitted materials

1) Regular attendance (max. 2 class can be missed).
2) 3x small homework assignments (= 30% of final mark)
3) 1x short Test in December (= 10% of final mark)
4) 1x term paper of 2000-2500 words (= 60% of final mark)

In cases of suspected plagiarism students may be called upon to reasonably demonstrate that any work they have submitted is their own.
