Basic concepts of qualitative research will be presented and discussed. Furthermore, the course will focus on differences and convergences of qualitative and quantitative research approaches and methods, application areas and limitations of qualitative approaches as well as quality criteria of qualitative research.
The students conduct a (joint) study assessing a relevant research question, collecting data by applying qualitative methods. The students learn how to formulate a research objective, to develop research questions, to choose adequate research methods, to collect and evaluate data, to prepare these data for presentation purposes, and to formulate a research report documenting the research process.
