Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The reading course Theories of political economy will tackle with the most important theoretical approaches from political economy since the beginning of capitalism on the basis of selected representative texts. The critical use of texts is practiced along substantive priorities relevant to theory. Structure of argumentation, theories, issues and definitions of the texts will be discussed, as well as its context, relevance, practical relevance and theoretical foundations. Thus, both theory-guided insights into the subject area and its controversies, as well as textual criticism and comparative political science as a central working skills are taught.
Among the theories treated are the classical school (Adam Smith), Marxism, Keynesianism, neoliberalism, regulation theory, Feminist Economics, and others.
