Aims, contents and method of the course

Das Ziel des Kurses soll sein Grundkenntnisse quantitativer Methoden aus den Sozialwissenschaften theoretisch und praktisch zu vermitteln. Der Aufbau des Kurses orientiert sich an der VO "Quantitative Methoden der empirischen Sozialforschung", deren Besuch hierzu empfohlen wird. Die Inhalte der Vorlesung sollen wiederholt und vertieft werden. Praktisch soll eine Einführung in die empirische Datenanalyse mithilfe von STATA 14 stattfinden. Der Schwerpunkt der Beispiele, die im Kurs bearbeitet werden, liegt in der Analyse von Umfragen zum Wahlverhalten und politischen Einstellungen aus der österreichischen AUTNES-Studie.

Assessment and permitted materials

Die Benotung setzt sich aus vier Kriterien zusammen (Gewichtung in %):
1. Aktive Teilnahme in den Übungen (10%)
2) Zeitgerechte Abgabe von drei Hausübungen. (25%)
3) Zwischentest (25%)
4) Proseminararbeit im Umfang von 2000 bis 2500 Wörter pro Studierender/m bis zum letzten Abgabetermin am 31.03.2019. Zur Leistungskontrolle wird die Plagiatssoftware 'Turnitin' eingesetzt. (40%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Der Kurs bietet eine Einführung und setzt keine Mindestanforderungen voraus. Die Anwesenheit in der ersten Sitzung ist unbedingt erforderlich. Maximal zwei Fehltermine.

Examination topics

Der Prüfungsstoff des Zwischentests besteht sowohl aus dem Inhalt der Vorlesung als auch aus dem Inhalt der Übung, die bis dahin besprochen wurden.
