Aims, contents and method of the course
Basic theoretical strands of comparative politics
Assessment and permitted materials
* several assignments to be handed in duly during the semester (altogether 80%)
* optional short oral presentation (about 5 minutes, the presentation compensates for one written assignment) (15%)
* discussion group (10% of grade)
* participation in group assignments and discussion in class (10%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
the goal is to give the students insights to different theoretical approaches to comparative politics.
Examination topics
The course will consist of short presentations, discussions of given texts and other assignments during class;
the students will cover the reading material in several ways: reading and writing assignments before class (assignments of tasks will be given by the instructor via moodle), discussions in class, participation as "discussant";
general introductions, assignments of tasks and guidance through the course will be given by the instructor (inter alia via moodle).

Die Literatur ist in zwei Sammelwerken zu finden:
Zusatzliteratur wird auf Moodle bereitgestellt.1) Reader (Lektürekurs BA 7: Vergleichende Analyse von Politik Wintersemester 2009) - der Reader wird jedes Semester aktualisiert! (ca. 11 Euro)2) Barrios/Stefes (Hg.) (2006). "Einführung in die Comparative Politics", Lehr- und Handbuch der Politikwissenschaft, Oldenbourg Verlag, München, Wien. (Insgesamt werden 6 Artikel aus dem Buch in der LV bearbeitet (Kapitel I,1,2. und Kapitel III, 1.2.3.6.); das Buch kann bei Facultas um ca. 30Euro erworben werden, außerdem steht es im Handapparat der Institutsbibliothek;
