Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course, which will be held in German (literature might be also in English), provides an introduction to the structures, institutions, relevant actors and processes of the Austrian and EU-european political systems. The main focus lies on the characteristics of the EU- and the Austrian polity (institutional and legal aspects of the respective political systems) and politics (political processes). The course covers topics such as constitutions, governments, the EU-commission as well as other political Institutions and actors. Additionally we will discuss aspects of political legitimation (through elections) as well as policy making processes. We will cover these topics by referrinf to concrete and timely examples.This course seeks to provide an engaging and inclusive study-environment and welcomes students with and without diabilities. If you should require special assistance, for example due to an impairment, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time, prefereably as soon as you are informed about being on the course. I will do my best to make the necessary adaptations, so that everyone enrolled is able to participate.
Assessment and permitted materials
Students are expected to actively participate in the course (e.g. in classroom or small group discussions). Further requriements may include holding classroom presentations, writing an essay, handing in homework on time and a mid-term quiz.All tasks will be checked with the plagiarism detection software "TurnItIn".

Reeading the mandatory literature, active participation in small group and classroom discussions, handing in homework on time via moodle, mid-term quit.
