Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course deals with central institutions of Austria and the EU as well as important actors and political processes. On the basis of introductory texts, the teaching units are intended primarily for informed discussion and argumentation. The texts treated represent a deepening of BAK 6 lecture contents and form the basis of the assessment.

Assessment and permitted materials

- Regular participation and oral participation in the course - 12 points
- Three short tests (in case of absence, tests are made up orally) - 38 points
- Five thesis papers/ Q&As on compulsory texts, each with max. 7 questions - 35 points
- Based on in-depth text and own media research: Oral input (approx. 7-8 min) OR written commentary (approx. 2 pages), both related to specific questions - 15 points

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

In order to meet the minimum requirements, all four performance subsectors must be provided on time. Due to the inherent examination character of the course, continuous attendance and active participation in all sessions are necessary. The attendance in the first session is absolutely necessary for the coordination of the short presentations. In addition, it should be noted that a maximum of two absent lessons are permitted throughout the semester.

Plagiarized performances as well as attempts to obtain partial performances lead to non-evaluation of the course (an 'X' is entered in the collective certificate). In order to ensure good scientific practice, an oral reflection on the submitted partial written achievements can be provided individually, which must also be completed as a positive result.
