Aims, contents and method of the course
Die letzten zwei Jahrzehnte markieren einen stetigen Anstieg antidemokratischer Tendenzen und Enttäuschungen mit der etablierten Politik. Schlagworte wie „Postdemokratie“, „Repräsentationskrise“ und „Krise der liberalen Demokratie“ versuchen, die Defizite der Demokratie begrifflich zu fassen. Gleichzeitig findet in zahlreichen Städten ein radikaler Wandel statt. Neue munizipalistische Bewegungen schaffen lokale Handlungsfähigkeit, indem sie mit demokratischen Praktiken experimentieren, politische Institutionen erfinden und transnationale Netzwerke bilden. Die Platzbesetzungen seit 2011 von Kairo über Madrid, Athen, Tel Aviv bis nach New York markieren einen Aufbruch der „rebellischen Städte“ (Harvey 2012). Unter der Parole „Recht auf Stadt“ (Lefebvre 1968) erlangen die neuen munizipalistischen Bewegungen die Kontrolle über die Institutionen zurück und verändern die Bedingungen, unter denen Politik betrieben wird.Das Ziel des Seminars ist es, die neuen munizipalistischen Bewegungen theoretisch zu fassen. Dazu werden Lefebvres Überlegungen zu einem „Recht auf Stadt“ mit postfundamentalistischen Konzepten der radikalen Demokratie zusammengeführt. Im Anschluss an eine Einführung in die zentralen Konzepte und Kategorien werden wir fragen: Was steht hinter Lefebvres Parole von einem Recht auf Stadt und welche emanzipatorischen Perspektiven öffnet sie? Welches Selbstverständnis und Demokratieverständnis artikulieren die Bewegungen? Inwiefern formulieren sie eine Kritik an der vorherrschenden Idee der Demokratie? Welche Vorstellungen von Handlungsfähigkeit, Macht und sozialem Wandel ist ihnen implizit und wofür steht die Forderung einer Feminisierung der Politik, die von der Plattform „Barcelona en Comú“ gefordert wird?
