Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The role of the EU in the world is becoming more contentious. The ratification of the Lisbon Treaty extended competencies beyond trade and development to the CFSP and CSDP, and redefined relations between EU and third countries, with the introduction of the Union Delegations replacing the former Commission delegations. At the same time, EU has downscaled the transformative ambition of its own foreign policy, showcasing an adverse framing of its strategic narrative. It is thus the main objective of this seminar to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the EU's institutional architecture, policy-making and its main challenges in foreign policy and external relations.
