Aims, contents and method of the course

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, with devastating consequences for Ukraine, and broad ramifications for Europe, and the world as a whole. This series of lectures will shed light on a diversity of aspects related to the war and its ramifications from a multidisciplinary perspective. The aim of the class is not to provide an encompassing coverage of the war, but rather open spaces for critical reflections on the way we talk about it, its origin, and its enduring and far reaching transformative impact. We will start off reflecting on the politics of knowledge and expertise on the war, and cover topics related to security, geopolitics, political regime, political economy, memory politics among others.
