Aims, contents and method of the course

The course deals with causes and consequences of the dramatic change in Latin America's position in EU foreign policy between 1992 and 2009, using Austria as an illustrative example.

*) Oral presentation of research proposal and progress reports
*) Written research paper

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

*) Analysis of the EU's political, economic and cultural relations with Latin American and Caribbean states
*) Explanation of the paradigm shift between 1992 and 2009
*) Policy field research of public and private Austrian organizations and institutions that deal in some way with Latin America

Examination topics

*) Introduction to the course's research methods and processes
*) Selection of the organizations to be examined
*) Presentation of research proposals and progress reports on the individually or collaboratively organized studies
