Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The EU multi-level governance system is shaped by a plurality of institutions and actors, policy-modes. This class provides a theoretically informed assessment of these interactions at EU level, its policy outcome and the subsequent implementation in the member states. In addition, we will also discuss the democratic implication of the EU governance system.

of stakeholder interaction is presented and evaluated on the basis of relevant theoretical approaches. The LV focuses on the procedural dimensions of the different and interconnected policy modes at the European level as well as their impact on the member states (i.e. implementation and Europeanisation). Apart from the plural constellation of actors that emerges, the policy instruments used by these actors are also subjected to a detailed analysis. In this way, not only the procedural dimension of politics is examined, but conclusions are also drawn about effective and democratic governance.
