Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar deals with the relations between the EC/ EU and the Mediterranean states und their institutional forms focusing on four key issues:
*) The Barcelona- Process-the Euro Mediterranean Partnership
*) The South Dimension of the European Neighbourhood Policy
*) The Union for the Mediterranean Sea
*) Perspectives of future relations after the "Arabic spring" 2011

Assessment and permitted materials

*) attendance
*) preparation of a written concept and presentation handout
*) interim and final oral reports on the chosen topic
*) written paper ( 20 p.)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Independent critical analysis of specific policyfields and problems in the framework of the relations between the EC/EU and the Mediterranean states using appropriate theoretical approaches

Examination topics

*) group meetings to discuss topics and literature
*) presentation and written report on a specific topic
