Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Based on violence protection policies, definitions of gender-based violence and sexism, as well as jointly developed theoretical considerations from approaches of feminist political science and gender and anti-violence research, the topic of sexism, gender-based and sexualised violence will be discussed using recent media discourses as well as reforms and evaluations of violent protection measures.
Objective: Basic understanding and knowledge of relevant violence protection policies and definitions of gender-based violence or violence against women and sexism, as well as the corresponding theoretical and empirical knowledge and transdisciplinary approaches, discuss and implement the knowledge in presentation and course work.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation, submission of exercises, presentation, participation in group work, writing a course work

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Active participation in all courses (two missing with justified absence is permitted); Submission of exercises, presentation, participation in group work, writing a course work
Assessment: Oral and written excercises (35%); written coursework (65%), must be positive.

Examination topics

Basic understanding of gender-based violence and sexism, knowledge of anti-violence policies, empirical findings on the extent of gender-based violence
