Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Elections constitute crucial moments in the life of liberal democracies. Thus, the course deals with the most important facets of electoral democracy. In the first part of the course, we deal with electoral participation analysing turnout, factors of turnout decline and turnout as a habit. In the second part of the course, we turn to electoral choice by using the three major approaches in the literature: the sociological, socio-psychological, and the issue voting approaches. Finally, we question attitude formation looking into the impact of emotions and personality traits on vote choice.
