Die Lehre wird im SoSe 2021 zu Beginn voraussichtlich digital stattfinden. Je nach Lage wird auf hybride oder Vor-Ort-Lehre umgestellt. Die Lehrenden werden die konkrete Organisationsform und Lehrmethodik auf ufind und Moodle bekannt geben, wobei auch mit kurzfristigen Änderungen gerechnet werden muss.

Studierende, die der ersten Einheit unentschuldigt fern bleiben, verlieren ihren Platz in der Lehrveranstaltung.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This seminar deals with the visibility of political violence in the context of war, terrorism and extremism. Based on theoretical texts and empirical studies, we discuss conditions, forms, ambivalences and consequences of the visibility and invisibility of violence and apply the findings to the analysis of concrete examples.

Assessment and permitted materials

The course assessment is based on three tasks to be completed during the semester. Regular participation is mandatory. Two missed seminar units will be tolerated.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For a positive assessment, the following three tasks must be completed with at least 51 points:

Task 1: Presentation on a work package (group project: 30% of the grade);

Task 2: Seminar paper (individual or group project: 50% of the grade);

Task 3: Presentation of the results from task 2 (individual or group project: 20% of the grade).
