Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The European Union is a globally visible actor in Europe’s external economic relations and it has gradually gained more importance in Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP). Yet, in these two policies, the European Union’s institutions – that are the Commission, the European Parliament and the member states acting through the Council – have very different tasks and decision-making roles. Understanding the institutional architecture and decision-making in these two distinct policies with topical examples such as the Brexit, TTIP or the Ukraine crisis will be the focus of this course.
Assessment and permitted materials

Coursework includes two written assignments, one individual and one within a group, one group presentation, individual preparation of weekly readings: replying to random reading checks. Submission of each assignment on time is mandatory. In case of late submission of a written assignment, performance will be lowered per each 24h by a full grade to your detriment.
