Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course will concentrate on a relatively new phenomenon in the religious landscape of Europe: the so-called neo-pagan religions (German: "Neuheidentum") with a Celtic or Germanic background. The focus will be on the problems of continuity, social and political context and the (inter)relation of these religious groups with each other.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Presentation of "new religions" with national / ethnic framework. Analysis of the structure and religious contents of these groups and strategies of (re)construction and legacy.

Examination topics

Historical and sociological interpretation of self-statements of these religious groups from the internet or (paper) publications.
