Aims, contents and method of the course

Digital Natives - so wird ihre Generation gerne essayistisch bezeichnet.
Die Digital Natives wurden geboren in eine Welt in der Handy, W-Lan, I-Phones und damit eine konstante digitale Telefon/Internetverbindung quasi schon von Geburt an als Bürgerrecht verstanden werden. Sie alle sind mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit oft online, sehen You-Tube Videos, gehen ins Netz in W-Lan Cafes und sind Mitglied bei StudiVZ oder Facebook. Manche entscheiden sich bewusst dagegen.

Doch wie verändern die digitalen Technologien unsere Kommunikation tatsächlich? Was bedeutet die Mediatisierung des Alltags für unsere Informationsnutzung? Wie informieren sich die Digital Natives über das Weltgeschehen?

Viele Fragen, denen wir im Laufe des gemeinsamen Forschungsseminars nachgehen wollen.

In dem einsemestrigen Forschungsseminar werden wir uns mit den neuen Formen der Informationsnutzung am Beispiel You-Tube empirisch auseinander setzten.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Im Zentrum dieses Forschungsseminars stehen biografische Annäherungen an den Journalismus unter den Bedingungen des Exils. Dabei ist nicht nur jener Journalismus gemeint, der infolge von Austrofaschismus und Nationalsozialismus außerhalb Österreichs (bzw. Deutschlands) geleistet wurde. Auch jene journalistischen Persönlichkeiten und ihre Werke sowie Arbeitsbedingungen sollen Thema sein, die nach 1945 in Österreich (und Deutschland) z.B. aus Ungarn, Tschechoslowakei, Chile, Polen, Ex-Jugoslawien usw. Asyl gefunden haben.

Assessment and permitted materials

1) Anwesenheit und aktive Mitarbeit, 2) zwei Einzelpräsentationen inkl. Berichte: a) Erstpräsentation (Forschungsvorhaben), b) Endpräsentation (Forschungsstand zu Semesterende), 3) schriftliche Einzelarbeit (= FOSE-Arbeit)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Ziel dieses Forschungsseminars ist die eigenständige Erarbeitung einer kommunikationswissenschaftlichen Untersuchung zum Rahmenthema.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Der öffentlich-rechtliche Rundfunk wird hier als Institution begriffen, die sich ökonomischer und administrativer Rationalität zu widersetzen, sowie der einseitiger Rationalisierung und Verdinglichung der kommunikativen Alltagspraxis entgegenzuwirken hat. Themenfelder: ö.-r. Rundfunk und Recht (national, europäisch), Gesellschaft (Institutionengeschichte, Leistungen, Public Value), Kommunikation (Öffentlichkeit, politische K.), Ökonomie (Wettbewerb, Nachfragekorrekturen, Non-Profit-Organisation).
