Aims, contents and method of the course

Overview of the current state of social media: networks, technologies, formats, economic basics and communcation strategies.
Please Note: The course will be kept in German.

*Social Media as part of the digital media landscape.
* The clover-leaf model of online communication.
* Social media building blocks.
* Big Data, prviacy and the GDPR regulations.
* Social media advertising / data trading.
* Visual communciation and strategic dramaturgy.
* Storytelling: The foundation of social media content strategies.
* Platform overview: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Youtube, WhatsApp, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Twitter.
* Personal branding and career planning with LinkedIn.
* Social media video & livestreaming.
* Social media manager as a corporate job.

METHODS
* Lecture-style presentation
* Guest lectures
* Live experiments
* Exercises and group discussions

Assessment and permitted materials

Multiple choice exam (50 questions, 25 SoMe A&B each), optioinal excercises. (see criteria)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

50 points (total: 100 / 10 per open question, 2 per mc question) are required for passing the final exam. During the course, participants can voluntarily hand in two written exercises. Each exercise counts for 2,5 bonus points. (max. 5 + 5 SOME-B, valid on all four exam dates)
