Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In contemporary societies, we are witnessing an increasing mediatization and visualization of all aspects of life. Images—both static and moving—play a crucial role not only in mass media but also in interpersonal, media-supported communication. But what role do visuals play in media communication? What theories and methods are used to analyze and understand visual communication? And what knowledge do we need to be effective communicators in the digital age, where smartphones and social media amplify the power of visuals? This course explores these key questions through a structured approach guided by the Handbook of Visual Communication. It provides both theoretical foundations and methodological tools to critically engage with visual media in diverse contexts.
