Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture serves to impart specialized knowledge. The students will get to know Public Affairs as a communication discipline and management function. Emphasis is placed on the distinction from other communication disciplines, the job description, ethics in public affairs, and institutions and processes of political decision-making.

Contents: Basics of public affairs as well as an overview of public affairs instruments; basics of the Austrian political system as well as legislation; public affairs in Austria and the European Union; digital public affairs.
Political communication, enforcement of interests / lobbying in theory and practice with case studies.

Course method: Lecture with discussion

Assessment and permitted materials

Written final exam (multiple choice)
Students can receive bonus points during the course of the lecture by participating and completing e-tivities on Moodle, which allow them to improve their grade by one grade.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Very good = 87 - 100%
Good = 75 - 86.99
Satisfactory = 63 - 74.99%
Sufficient = 50 - 62.99%
Not sufficient = 0 - 49.99%
