The module explores current processes and historical developments of policy for the media in the era of globalisation.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Persuasive Kommunikation: Theorien und Erkenntnisse

Wie und warum gelingt es uns, andere Menschen dazu zu bewegen, etwas für uns zu tun - ein Produkt zu kaufen, uns zu helfen, sich (ver)führen zu lassen? Die Vorlesung behandelt dazu die Theorien persuasiver Kommunikation an praktischen Beispielen - an der Wirksamkeit persuasiver Argumente, an überzeugenden Taktiken und Strategien. Überzeugbarkeit bestimmter Zielgruppen und die Effektivität von Kommunikationskanälen gehören ebenfalls zu unseren Themen. Werbung betrachten wir gesondert: als "Härtetest" persuasiver Kommunikation - mit einer Fülle von praktischen Erkenntnissen.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The module explores the processes, politics and actors involved in the governance of media and culture within the context of globalisation.
What are the policy directions for the media in a global scale?
What are the structural and normative changes in the role of the media and their relation to the citizen and the state?

Examination topics

Lectures.

Lectures will follow the principle of active learning which entails student participation in class discussion when necessary and Small group work (unassessed and in class)
