Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the course, students are introduced to the challenges of social and ecological sustainability. Following theoretical inputs, they will reconstruct its historical development and discuss the key topics, considering interdisciplinarity, complexity, and governance implications. The course consists of lectures by the instructor, student presentations, and joint text discussions.

The syllabus will be presented at the beginning of the semester and will be accessible in Moodle.
Most teaching will be in German except for guest lectures.

Assessment and permitted materials

The assessment is based on the preparation and active participation in the courses, the conduction and presentation of a systematic literature review on a topic, as well as the preparation of short written comments on the presentations of other students. At the end, a seminar paper is submitted.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

- Active participation and feedback loop to peers (25%)
- Presentation of the selected theme (25%)
- Final paper (50%)

For a positive evaluation, all requirements must be completed.
