Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Note from the SPL Sociology:
All students who have been allocated a place on a course must be assessed if they have not deregistered in good time or if they provide a credible reason for not deregistering immediately after the obstacle has ceased to exist.
In the event of such a reason (e.g. prolonged illness), the* student may be deregistered from the course even after the deadline has expired.
The course management decides on the existence of an important reason. The application for cancellation must be submitted immediately.
A positive assessment of the course requires the positive completion of all parts of the course.
Plagiarism software (Turnitin in Moodle) may be used in the course of the assessment.
The use of AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) for the production of texts is only permitted if this is expressly requested by the course instructor (e.g. for individual assignments).
To ensure good academic practice, the course instructor may require an oral reflection ("grade-relevant discussion") on the submitted seminar paper, which must be successfully completed.
If a partial achievement has been cheated, i.e. cheated on an examination or test, plagiarised in a written assignment or forged signatures on attendance lists, the entire course will be graded as ‘not assessed’ and recorded accordingly.
This and other provisions can be found in the study regulations: https://satzung.univie.ac.at/studienrecht/.
If you have already failed an immanent examination course three times and would like to register for a fourth attempt, please contact the Sociology Student Service Centre during the registration phase (see: additional information ‘Third repetition of immanent examination courses’ https://soziologie.univie.ac.at/info/pruefungen/#c56313).
