Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The course aims at imparting insights into the logic and the procedures of qualitative research. It focusses on of its central approaches: Ethnography.

Discussion of central texts of Ethnography; Developing and presentation of the students' empirical projects

Based on this theoretical introduction students will create their own empirical "mini-projects" in order to study the application of different ethnographic research tools. These projects will be the main target of the following two meetings (Nov 2009, Jan 2010) as they provide us with the opportunity for a deeper discussion of ethnographic research strategies and for methodological reflection.
