Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The seminar consists of two parts. In the first part, it offers an introduction to the fundamentals of social policy, including its various definitions, considering non-governmental actors and resources such as welfare associations, families, and market-oriented actors. In the second part, the students choose a topic, present it, and debate it. Classic topics such as poverty, unemployment, and education are supplemented by eco-social policy topics such as energy poverty, among others. Country comparisons are discussed, with particular attention to differences, similarities, and converging or diverging trends. Individual sessions may also be conducted in English.
Assessment and permitted materials
The assessment is based on preparation for and active participation in the lectures, conducting and presenting a systematic literature review on the chosen topic, providing feedback on the presentations of other students, and writing a working paper on the same topic as the literature review.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
