Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The objective of this course is to provide participants with a basic understanding of using the SPSS software for statistical analyses of quantitative social science data.
Assessment and permitted materials
Final mark: Four homework assignments after each class (80%). Attendance and participation (no class missed) 20%.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
This course will provide a basic introduction to the SPSS software package. It is thus best suited for students who have no prior experience with SPSS (or other statistical software). After completing the course, students should be able to "handle" quantitative data, understand the most common procedures for data analysis and hypothesis testing, and conduct their own analysis in future work. Particularly, the focus will be on analyzing survey data.
Examination topics
The classes will be conducted in a computer lab. Thus, basic computer skills are mandatory.
